Eligibility
- Anyone aged 18 or over, and any company, may apply. We approve or reject each application at our discretion and may ask for more information.
- We cannot accept applicants who live in, or are based in, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, or the Crimea, Donetsk or Luhansk regions, or who appear on a sanctions list. We screen partners when we approve them and before the first payout. A possible match blocks approval and payouts.
- You must give true information in your application and keep it current.
- A partner never earns a fee on their own purchases, or on purchases by a company they own or control.
How fees are earned
- A fee is earned only for a customer who creates a new Nonresident Tax account after clicking your link, and whose first paid order is paid within 60 days of that click.
- We credit the last partner link the customer clicked before creating their account. The credit is locked when the account is created.
- One fee is paid per customer, ever. Renewals, later orders, existing customers and orders paid after the 60 days earn nothing.
- An order that costs nothing earns no fee. The next paid order inside the 60 days counts as the first.
- The fee for each service is set by us and shown in your approval email and in the partner portal. We may set a different fee for a particular partner. The fee is never more than the net amount the customer paid, excluding state fees passed through and tax.
- A first payment made by bank wire or recorded by hand by our staff is not eligible automatically. We may add an adjustment at our discretion.
Hold and payouts
- Each fee is held for 60 days after the customer pays. A refund or chargeback during that time cancels the fee.
- After the hold the fee becomes payable. On the 1st of each month we pay every partner whose payable balance is at least $100 and who has a tax form and a payout method on file. A smaller balance rolls over.
- We pay manually through Wise, in a currency Wise supports. If your bank is not on Wise, bank fees and currency conversion fees come out of the payout.
- A refund or chargeback after we paid a fee is deducted from your next payouts.
- Changing your payout method waits a short cooldown before we use it, and needs a one-time code sent to your email.
Prohibited methods
A fee earned by any of the following is void, and we may ban you:
- Bidding on our brand name, its misspellings or our domain in paid search or social ads
- Posting your link on coupon, deal, voucher or cashback sites
- Spam, unsolicited bulk messages, or automated clicks and sign-ups
- Fake or incentivised reviews
- Misleading claims, including saying we are a law firm, a CPA firm or a government agency, promising tax results, or saying you are one of us
- Referring yourself, or creating accounts to earn fees
- Hiding the link behind a redirect that conceals where it leads
Disclosure
You must disclose clearly and close to the link that you earn a fee if someone buys. Under the US Federal Trade Commission rules on endorsements, this applies to every link, video, post, newsletter and podcast, in any language. A phrase such as “I earn a fee if you buy through this link” is enough. Hiding it in a profile or behind a link is not.
Fraud holds and bans
- We check every fee. If a check raises a concern, for example a match between you and the customer, the same payment card, paid ads or a spike of sign-ups from one network, we put the fee on hold. A person on our team decides whether to release or reject it. Nothing is released automatically.
- We may deactivate your account. Deactivation stops new referrals and keeps fees you already earned on their schedule.
- We may ban you for breaking these terms. A ban also cancels every unpaid fee. Refunds and chargebacks that already happened stay deducted, so what you owe is not forgiven.
- Both can be reversed by us. Rejected fees are not revived on their own.
- If you think a decision is wrong, write to support@nonresident.tax and a person will review it.
Tax forms
Before your first payout you must give us the right tax form in the partner portal: a W-8BEN if you are a non-US individual, a W-8BEN-E if you are a non-US entity, or a W-9 if you are a US person. A W-8 form expires on 31 December of the third year after you sign it, and we cannot pay you with an expired form. We may report payments to tax authorities. We do not give tax advice: you are responsible for your own taxes.
Privacy of referred customers
- The portal shows you a masked list of referrals: date, a masked name, country, service, fee and status. It never shows an email address, a company or any tax data.
- You may not try to find out who a referred customer is, and you must not contact them using information from us.
- Our link sets a cookie named nt_ref in the visitor’s browser, which remembers the partner for 60 days. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle personal data.
- We process your own data, including payout details and tax forms, only to run the program. Payout details are stored encrypted.
Changes and termination
- We may change these terms, the services that earn a fee and the fee amounts. A change applies to orders paid after it takes effect. We tell you by email, and the version date at the top of this page changes.
- You can stop at any time by writing to support@nonresident.tax. Fees you already earned follow the schedule above.
- We may end the program or your participation at any time. Fees already earned and not forfeited under these terms are still paid.
- You are an independent contractor. Nothing here makes you our employee, agent or partner in a legal sense, and you cannot sign for us.
